Maxpedition - Pocket Organizers
Tuesday, 09 August 2011 15:51

Maxpedition has had their EDC Pocket Organizer around for some time and apparently customers of all kinds of pant types have been asking for new size variants. The original EDC size was made to fit comfortably in a cargo pocket and now the Fatty size makes full use of the cargo space; Mini fits better in side hand pockets, and Micro is even smaller to fit in the majority of pant pockets.

EMDOM CQB AK-M4 Double Mag Pouch
Saturday, 18 June 2011 11:10

I've had the Emdom M4 specific CQB pouches for a bit and despite being a tighter double fit than I'd like, I overall dig the core design. When some AK class opportunities came my way I was reminded I didn't have jack in the form of AK pouches so naturally decided to give the Emdom AK CQB pouch a try. I'm a fan of velcro flaps as they offer good error tolerance in stressful situations being overall easy to rip open and can half ass a closure yet still be decently secure.

MAXPEDITION - Modular Inserts 2
Wednesday, 04 May 2011 16:23

Maxpedition has some recent additions to their hook and loop based inserts. With all the cool guy bags using loop these days, always good to see more inserts to give more holding and organization flexibility.

Double Pocket Insert: 4.5" x 6.5" x 2"
A nice compact organizer great for holding small electronics, compact toiletries, or even can fill up with some first aid basics. It sports 2 exterior pockets with velcro closure using a nice soft interior material making these area great for phones and compact cameras. The main compartment opens with a double zippers to a near clam-shell style, but not all the way to keep goods from flopping all the way out. Inside there is a simple sleeve pocket on one side with elastic divided into 2 slots and even a key keeper.

Maxpedition E6 - Folding Knife Case
Thursday, 25 March 2010 21:14

Coming in at around 6" x 2.5" this design is like the other Maxpedition E series, but in a size optimized for folding knives. Exclusively made for knifeart.com, the main design intent is to hold collector knives or any you might just want to keep nice and protected. The exterior is made of the heavy duty 1000D material Maxpedition is known for, however the inside is lined with gentle fleece. The main flap uses a velcro connection with pull tab to increase ease. The majority of folding knives will easily fit inside and bulk purchasing is even available to make these cases further affordable. It shouldn't be an issue for most, but if you are especially concerned about keeping an item in pristine condition, one should take care not to brush up against the hook velcro when placing items in and out. A simple and effective design.

Toy Soldier Workshop - QuickDraw M4 Pouch
Sunday, 14 February 2010 19:03

So there are a LOT of mag pouches out there these days, but I thought these were worth showing for something different. The concept is somewhat like a FastMag using soft materials. The sides are made of elastic to keep pressure on the magazine while the insides have a generous amount of non-slip material. The end result is a pretty nice grip.

Toy Soldier Workshop - Mini Drop Pouch
Sunday, 14 February 2010 17:51

Toy Soldier Workshop brings us another unique pouch. The size and the mounting options turn this pouch into a specialty GP pouch. A good assortment of random small and medium things will fit inside, but one example could be to use it as a small medical pouch. The size is approx 8"L x 4.5"H x 2.5"D of course varying on how much you stuff in there. Construction on this one was overall solid with the main material being 1000D cordura.

MAXPEDITION - Modular Inserts
Sunday, 25 October 2009 13:09

Maxpedition and other tactical gear makers have been making bags with loop velcro panels for a while so finally we have some more options on how to make good use of them. Since the intent is that these panels will generally be in the interior of bags the retention security is low in favor of easier accessibility. Some quick breakdowns:

MAXPEDITION - 6" x 9" Padded Pouch
Friday, 16 October 2009 21:38

DIMS: 6" wide x 9"+ tall x 3" thick
Frontal loop field: 3" x 4"

This pouch is now around to expand the Maxpedition padded line for those who want something in more of a large GP size. At this size you can get into larger electronics such as hand camcorders. Of course feel free to get crafty and fit whatever items you want inside to have a cushy ride. If attached directly to the body the padding can also make wearing more comfortable for long hauls. The main opening double zippers are done reversed style and work nice and smooth.

Zulu Mega Admin Pouch
Friday, 14 August 2009 09:33

DIMS: Approx 9.5" W x 6" H x 1" D

As you may have guessed I'm a fan of admin pouches so it was cool to check out this larger design by Zulu Nylon Gear. Hence the name, Mega, the size is no messing around and takes up the upper chest area on a typical tactical vest. Depending on your load out, placing lower on top of rifle magazine pouches is another common mounting location.

Starting with the exterior there is elastic webbing on both frontal sides and on the bottom. The sides work great for chem lights and pens while the bottom can accommodate thicker items such as medical gear or folding knives. With a little elbow greese you can even get a full size CAT tourniquet in there on the bottom.

ITW MILITARY - FASTmag GEN III
Friday, 14 August 2009 09:30

DIMS: approx 3.125" W x 4.25" H x 1.25" D (not counting PALS fins)

I've been quite the fan of the GEN II and based on user feedback and requests GEN III has recently come about. Down East Inc is still the main design crew while ITW distributes and markets the FASTmag. I'd say the largest change is that GEN III is now stackable and to assist in this, 2 versions are offered with one having PALS stabilizer pads and one without. The one with stabilizers is intended to be the main platform while the version without is for stacking or wearing on a belt.

MAXPEDITION - Tear Away Map Case with GPS/Compass/Strobe Pouch
Sunday, 09 August 2009 14:07

DIMS: Overall size: 7" wide x 4" high x 1.5" thick
Map case: Opens to 12" x 12"; folded dims 5" x 5" x 1"
GPS/Compass/Strobe pouch: 2.25" wide x 1.25" thick; height adj. 4-5"
Map case comes with one 12x12 a LOKSAK dry bag included

This pouch kit clearly was made with the serious navigator in mind. The main aspect is the map case which is held in by an adjustable SRB. When ready for use the map portion can be torn off the velcro and unfolded to a no joke 12" x 12" size. This allows a lot of map to be viewed at one time. A single zipper allows map access and for those who plan on getting wet on their adventures, a LOKSAK dry bag is even included.

MAXPEDITION - Clip-On PDA Phone Holster
Sunday, 09 August 2009 14:07

DIMS: Overall size: 2.75" wide; height adjustable between 4.5" to 5.5"

So you might be thinking, "How the hell is this any different than the Phone Clip-On Series", and I'd have to say not much except the sizing and full coverage flap. The sizing is made to fit the popular iphone while being able to hold many others of similar size due to the elastic webbing and adjustable SRB. The flap comes over the top to give enhanced protection in which the inside still has a nice soft material.
