MSM Tac-Organizer

Category: Prototypes

Based on the Stealth Admin pouch, we wanted to go with a slightly slimmed down and simplified version. The zippers go down further for wider access to the main compartment, yet stop soon enough so goods do not spill out. Interior has 3 billowed pockets on the frontal side and 2 billowed pockets on top of a sleeve pocket on the back interior side.

Snap Shackle Rig

Original Design intent: To be added to belts or vests to give quick release capability.
I started off with this thing using velcro to attach and folks showed interest, but it was a lot more manufacture work than it needed to be and would require at least 2 sizes to cover both small personal belts and big duty belts.

Rigid Pistol Magazine Pouch Mods

So not really my own prototype, but some mods I thought people may be interested in. I got a glock 19 not too long ago for a compact pistol option and have been experimenting with finding my favorite kit for it. For rigid pouches I snagged the Blackhawk CQC pistol magazine pouch and Safariland 074 (concealment) pistol magazine holder. I'm used to SIG magazines and have noticed Glock 19 mags are fairly short and stubby with almost no lip at the bottom.

This area is to show examples of Military Elastics and Cords including specs.

GSI WOVEN ELASTICS: <www.geraldschwartzinc.com>

Gerald Schwartz carries a good color selection. Things worth noting include: Coyote is more of a darker tan so M Coyote is what most people consider "Coyote." The Camo 483 is also fairly desaturated compared to the other camo 483 materials resulting in a smoke green look.

OWF ELASTICS: <www.owfinc.com>

Outdoor Wilderness Fabrics Inc. elastics sample card. Non-mil colors however can see some differences between woven, braid, and knit.

ITW MILITARY PRODUCTS
<www.itwmilitaryproducts.com>
ITW showed a lot of cool new goodies at shotshow. For starters they are offering a new color they call sand 25. Although made to match the main color of Desert MARPAT, it matches the tan on ACU/UCP quite well too. A lightweight carabiner design is also in the making called a Tactical Link. They can take up to 300 pounds and got rid of that damn hook in the opening. For those tired of scraping up their snaps, ITW now makes a snap solution with a cover made from their same great materials as most of their other products. This way they can be scrapped to hell and back and not start to show brass. The cannon clip was new to me which is a small slide-able pull tab. The glove hook and snap dragon have been around, but are still great parts. My fave has to be the dual release buckle which is like a normal SRB, however it can be cord pull released as well for an easy aggressive motor skill. They even make a pull bar to go with the system they are calling a tactical toggle. I forsee this badboy working for a lot of great applications.

This area is for general military style webbing information including specs and color examples.

Lowy USA has a great webbing type and color selection including some of the harder to find webbings such as scuba and seatbelt types. The Coyote 43668 1" was a bit saturated/golden, but overall good stuff.

Pals Connection Styles

Details
Category: Info
Created: Wednesday, 08 July 2009 01:30

Although PALS webbing on kit is fairly standardized, the connection styles are not. Since the original MOLLE "Natick" style snap is patented, other manufactures have come up with different connection methods. However if you are just making gear for yourself, feel free to use whichever style you prefer or even experiment making your own.

-MOLLE "Natick" Snap:

This is the standard issue and most well known method. Using classic snaps and manufactured by Speciality Defense Systems. Overall simple and work well, just in the long run your snaps may deteriorate. While weaving MOLLE snap pouches onto kit, sometimes the snaps can snag and slow things down. Products such as Magpul's Speed Threader were made to assist in this issue.
