TekMat Firearm Mats

We all have to clean our weapons at some point and having a dedicated mat like the TekMat series is certainly a nice upgrade to just throwing down some rags on a table. Made of a soft polyester top and non-slip neoprene back it offers a good non scratch platform for firearms with enough stick to stay in place.

The neoprene backer additionally makes a barrier to prevent oils and lubes seeping through. On that subject, the mats come in black and light grey colors; the use tradeoff being black will hide stains better while the grey will be more likely to contrast with your weapon parts for better visibility. Apparently on their website, TekMat also offers an OD Green color with white print. Even if you inevitably ass up your mat with spills and marks, it can be thrown in a washer on the gentle cycle and let to air dry for a good low hassle cleaning.

Many popular rifle and pistol designs are offered and although the side data can vary, a parts list is always shown for handy reference and to me just looks cool. Since there is more space on the larger rifle sizes, extra history and operation information is included into the design. Sublimation printing is used which is nice for durability so you don't have to worry about some cheap silk-screen job cracking and peeling off. The Glock / pistol size is approx 17" x 11" and the AR-15 being approx 36" x 12" proved to be a good working size allowing comfortable part placement / working room. I didn't go too crazy on the breakdowns for example pictures, but hopefully one can see the space available if one wants to get into armorer maintenance breakdown levels.

As for other uses, these are essentially 1/8" thick mouse pads so they work great for that as well. Pimpn out a computer top with a rifle size can be nice to give both keyboard cushion and mouse pad capability. The large gamer pads tend to be over-priced with some dumb game graphic like Crate Jumper 3 on there that will become dated in about a year. The TekMats also look pretty boss on a coffee table which can serve the dual purpose of being big ass coasters. As one might guess these mats are also great for glass counter tops, common in gun stores to protect both the glass and the guns.

Reasonably priced, I found the TekMats to be good combination of both useful and interesting visually.
